McAllister Garfield, PC has been working in California now for several years, led by founding attorney Sean McAllister who became a California lawyer in 2016 in anticipation of adult use legalization. I wanted to let you know that our firm is now formally affiliated in California with Aaron Herzberg and his firm, The Puzzle Group Law Firm, PC in an effort to bring the expertise of both of our firms together to benefit our clients in California, and in particular in the Los Angeles area. For more on the Puzzle Group, see http://www.puzzlegrouplaw.com/ Aaron is a pioneer in the California cannabis industry and is well known for his many successful projects getting clients licensed across the state. Aaron’s law firm brings a wealth of expertise to our team in state and local licensing, governmental relations, license transfers, real estate opportunities, and license purchase or sale opportunities. Aaron is perhaps best known for his ability to locate and lock up real estate that can be used for all aspects of the cannabis industry, including retail dispensaries, grows, infused products facilities, distribution sites, and non-store front delivery service sites. His firm has an in-house real estate brokerage focused on cannabis real estate. Our firms have recently worked together on new cannabis dispensary applications in Santa Ana, West Hollywood and San Bernardino and we intend to continue to expand our collaboration, with the goal being that the Puzzle Group takes the lead on real estate acquisition and licensing and McAllister Garfield takes the lead on the legal work and raising capital.
I also wanted to make sure you understand my firm’s presence in California. We have six lawyers across the state, including three focused on the LA area, two in the Bay Area, and another in Santa Cruz. Our team includes myself (handling regulatory compliance and business transactions), Kresimir Peharda (a 25+ year corporate/securities lawyer heading up our transaction and securities work), Navid Brewster (handling regulatory compliance, business transactions, and corporate governance), and Anne Kelson in Oakland (handling employment law matters). For more information about our California lawyers, see https://mcallistergarfield.com/states/california/ On top of starting up many new companies for the cannabis industry in California, we have won a competitive micro business license in Santa Cruz, helped clients put together fundraising documents to comply with securities laws, and we represent one of the 8 licensed dispensaries in Oakland.
Our footprint in California continues to grow and the $10 billion market there is just taking off. Now is the time to take a hard look at California. If you are interested in talking about opportunities in California or the Los Angeles market, please contact me directly. Thanks in advance.
Sean T. McAllister
