Brad serves as Senior Counsel at McAllister Garfield, P.C. and also directs the firms Tribal Cannabis Law Group.

Now entering his third decade of legal practice, Brad regularly advises his clients on business transaction matters including corporate start up, financing, and regulatory and environmental compliance.  Brad is also a highly experienced litigator and has handled numerous environmental enforcement cases and American Indian law matters in tribal court, state court and federal trial and appellate courts.

Over the course of this career, Brad has worked extensively throughout Indian Country.  Brad regularly advises his clients on developing tribal civil and criminal codes to address cannabis and hemp, establishing tribally owned and operated cannabis businesses and creating joint ventures and other business arrangements.  In 2018, Brad scored a decisive federal court victory on behalf of a federally recognized American Indian tribe in Wisconsin upholding the tribe’s ability to cultivate hemp and produce Cannabidiol or CBD.

Brad is licensed to practice law in Colorado and admitted to practice before Federal courts in Colorado and Wyoming as well as the Ninth, Tenth and D.C. Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Prior to joining McAllister Garfield, Brad served as an assistant professor at the University of Denver Sturm School of Law in the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Program and was founder and managing attorney of a prominent environmental/energy law firm.

Brad graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law’s Environmental and American Indian Law program in 1998 and is an enrolled tribal member of the Sault Ste. Marie Band of Chippewa Indians.
